Kvetonov resevoir

This reservoir lies approximately 20Km to the south of Ceske Budejovice near the town of Kaplice. Kvetonov reservoir offers good stillwater flyfishing for rainbow trout. It is also possible to catch perch and carp. We recommend a 10' long rod #7 with intermediate line using small streamers and lures. For the bigger and older fish (which have gone natural) it is suggested to use a fine line with a nymph or buzzers.

Warm Vltava

Warm Vltava

The river, little more than a stream starts at the mountain village of Kvidla and follows the road down to Horni Vltavice. The river is anything from a whopping 2 to 6 feet wide and cascades down the mountain slopes in a series of steep steps each followed by an impressivly deep pool, ideal for Brook Trout.

Upper Vltava
The Upper Vltava lies to the eastern edge of the Sumava mountains and can be divided into three areas.

Upper Vltava

The first area is upstream of the Lipno reservoir and is superb for Grayling in the Autumn. This stretch of the river starts near the village of Horni Vltavice and snakes it way to the start of the Lipno Reservoir near the town of Volary. It is forbidden to fish in certain areas of the river, so it is best to make sure you have a guide book and maps to make sure you a fishing a permitted waters. Wading is forbidden until May due to Grayling fry.

Upper Vltava

The second area is downstream of the Lipno reservoir to Vyssi Brod. This stretch of water feeds the Lipno II reservoir. The water level here can be very unstable as this water is used to power the hydroelectric generator at Vyssi Brod. For this reason the fishing is not as good in this area. You can fish for Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout here. The Lipno II reservoir contains Trout, Perch, Zander as well as Carp.

The third area is possibly the best trout fishing venue in the Czech Republic for this reason it is the most popular. It lies downstream from the Lipno II Reservoir and flow to the historic town of Rozmberk and onwards to Cesky Krumlov. Here you will find Grayling, Trout, Dace, Chub, Pike and even Danube Salmon (upto 1 meter long). The best part of the river runs from the small town of Vyssi Brod downstream to Rozmberk village.
